Healthy Chilli<3

I went to my brothers the other night & had the best Chilli!!! His girlfriend Emily made it & now I’m making it for the 2nd time in 3 days (: John & I went through it in a day & I figured it would be nice to have it if we are snowed in!(: It’s super easy to make, healthy & filling!!


Here’s the recipe:

1lb of ground turkey (I like my chill meaty so I do extra meet, more like 1.5 pounds)

1/2 pound of pork sausage (optional- I used Italian turkey sausage)

2-3 tablespoons of canola oil

12 oz beer (Emily said a darker beer is tastier)

1 medium yellow onion diced

1 green bell pepper chopped (store didn’t have any nice looking green ones so I used red & still turned out great)

1 large jalapeño pepper seeded & diced (Emily uses a red & green jalapeño + a habanero pepper.) If you don’t like your food too spicy, I would stick to just the one green one!) All 3 is definitely delicious but has some real HEAT!

6 cloves of Garlic finely chopped or pressed

1 Large can of diced tomatoes (Emily uses 2 cans of Rotel tomatoes + 1 small can of diced tomatoes. I did one can of Rotel & 1 large can of diced tomatoes, the Rotel tomatoes definitely adds a nice flavor) If you don’t have hotel, 1 large can of diced tomatoes will still do the job)

2 cans of Red Kidney Beans

1tsp granulated garlic, 2 tbsp chilli powder, 1 tbsp paprika, 1/2 tbsp cumin, 1tsp cayenne pepper, kosher salt & pepper to taste

Heat a large pot over medium heat, then add oil. Add onion, bell peppers, jalapeño peppers & allow to caramelize 5-7 minutes. Add garlic, sauté for 1 minute & then add meat. Cook till meat is no longer pink. Add beer & deglaze pan, simmer till beer is reduced by half. Add tomatoes, beans, & spices. Lower & cook for at least 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
