Homemade Baby Food

Hi! I love Mondays because the bachelor is on (:(: I know most people think it’s stupid but I always get hooked on it once I start watching…. 🙃

Lucca is 8 months today & now eating 3 meals a day. Up until a couple weeks ago, food wasn’t consistent because I really wanted him to get most his nutrients from formula. He was getting one meal a day, at lunch or dinner. I always give him his bottle first to ensure he will drink it, and then give food about an hour later (closer to his next nap). This has been working well for him. This has been his eating for the past week. I don’t do any packaged food unless we are on vacation or out of the house for awhile.

Morning- Lucca has a 9 ounce bottle & then I mash a banana & put a little oatmeal in it. Sometimes a banana & a half if he’s really hungry 💪🏻

Lunch has an avacado (a whole one- mashed) or sweet potatoe with Apple if he’s not having it for dinner.

Dinner this week is

*Broccoli with chicken

*Sweet potatoe with chicken & apple

I LOVE making baby food. I can’t wait for Lucca to be done with this weeks food so I can try new recipes. I love seeing his face when he tries new things 🤗

Here’s how I cook his food to retain the most nutrients as possible.

Broccoli with chicken:

I steam the broccoli.

Fill your pot with less than an inch of water, put the broccoli in, cover with a lid. Bring to a boil, and then turn the stove off. Let the broccoli steam (about 7-9 minutes). Then mash up the broccoli.
Set aside & boil the chicken. Put the chicken in a pot and fill the pot with enough water to cover the chicken. Bring to a boil & let the chicken boil for about 20 minutes. Make sure the chicken is 100% cooked.

Put the chicken in whatever blender you have. I use vitamix. Once the chicken is finely chopped, add the broccoli.

I get it down to a pure since Lucca still eats only pures.
Sweet potatoe with chicken & apple sauce.

The apple sauce is definitely the most time consuming of all the ingredients. You can always add already made applesauce if you don’t have the time. I peal the apples, core them, and then chop them into small chunks. Add less than an inch of water to your pot and boil them until they are soft enough to mash.

Set aside.

Chop your sweet potatoes into squares and roast in the oven until soft at 350 (20-30 minutes). Once they are soft, mash them up a little.

Chicken is the same as the previous recipe- boil it.

Add apples, sweet potatoes, & chicken in your mixer. Mix until your desired constintency.

I set aside some apple sauce, and sweet potatoe mixed with just apple & no chicken.
For storing- I put enough food in small containers for a couple days (in the fridge) and freeze the rest in trays for the week. Lucca LOVES these recipes. I buy all organic produce.

Hope you enjoyed. Share your favorite recipes with me and let me know if you have any questions 😋
